Clubs

ART CLUB

Art Club membership is open to students who are enrolled in all year art.  Membership dues are $5.00 per year.  The Art Club makes two trips per year---to art galleries, museums, or art exhibits.  The goal of the Art Club is to bring art and beauty to Lonoke Middle School and to the community of Lonoke.

THE BUNNY'S TALE

The Bunny's Tale is Lonoke Middle School's newspaper.  It is published several times during the year.  The paper's editors and reporters work closely with Mrs. Karen Gibbs, the Editor in Chief.  Those having ideas or news for the paper may e-mail Mrs. Gibbs at karen.gibbs@lonoke.k12.ar.us.

FIRE MARSHALS

Fire Marshals are selected based upon Daggett's Twelve Guiding Principles:  respect, responsibility, initiative, loyalty, compassion, optimism, perseverance, courage, honesty, trustworthiness, adaptability, and contemplation.

Under the direction of Mr. Willie Hunt, the Fire Marshals conduct fire drills each month as is required by state law.

Family Career & Community Leaders of America(FCCLA)

  • Offers leadership opportunitiesDevelops leadership skills
  • Chance to be involved in your school and community
  • Is run by the students
  • Provides a chance to meet others and make friends
  • Develops a good attitude about school and home life.
  • Makes learning fun!
  •  Must be enrolled in a Home Economics class
  • Pay membership dues of $10.00
  • Must be in seventh grade.

Activities Include:

  • Red Ribbon Week
  • Compassion Counts Project
  • Free 4 The Weekend
  • Make cookies for the Red Cross Blood Drive

SCIENCE CLUB

The Lonoke Middle School Science Club emphasizes careers in science and develops  projects for the improvement and enhancement of the Lonoke Middle School campus.  The Science Club is open to only eighth grade students who show an interest in science.  The membership fee is $4.00

STUDENT COUNCIL

The Lonoke Middle School Student Council is the student governing body of Lonoke Middle School.  The Student Council officers are selected by the student body and are:  president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and reporter.  Officers are elected in the Spring, so candidates must be sixth or seventh grade students.  (The eighth grade students will be moving to high school.)  At the beginning of the Fall semester eight representatives are elected from each grade (six, seven, and eight) for a total of 24 representatives.   Student Council members lead the student body in saying the Pledge of Allegiance each morning.  The Council also organizes several school and community projects throughout the school year.

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY
NHS is open to 7th and 8th grade students who have a 3.25 grade point average during the spring semester. Membership dues are $5.00. NHS is a service organization performing community service projects and school improvement projects. NHS sponsors the Spring Dance and participates in the Christmas Coalition purchasing gifts for needy children.


 

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

FCA is open to all students in grades 6-8.  Membership dues are $1.00 per year. Meetings are held monthly on the first Wednesday.  The goal of FCA is to provide spiritual support to students, through student led devotionals and guest speakers.
