LPSD Software/Hardware Purchase Policy

The Lonoke Public School District Software Purchase Guideline Policy applies to all employees, contractors, consultants, temporaries, and other users at Lonoke Public School District, including those users affiliated with third parties that are interested in presenting/selling new, replacement, or dramatic changes in software to the current Lonoke Public School District environment.

All purchases will adhere to Lonoke Public School District’s established guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure the maximum results and benefits are obtained from Lonoke Public School District’s potential investment.

All software and hardware acquired for or on behalf of the district is and shall be deemed district property. All such software must be used in compliance with applicable licenses, notices, contracts, and agreements.

All purchasing of district software and hardware shall be centralized with the IT department to ensure that all applications conform to district software/hardware standards and are purchased at the best possible price.

The IT department will maintain original license and software, as well as updates and modifications.

All software purchases, regardless of source, will be first turned over to the IT department for proper scanning via the district’s approved antivirus solution and will be reissued after inventory documents are updated.

All new software introduced into Lonoke Public School District’s current IT systems needs to have some compatibility and interoperability if it is to interface with other programs. Any software/hardware item or resource that directly or indirectly influences, affects, connects to, or accesses Lonoke Public School District’s resources must comply with all current IT polices and is governed by this purchase guideline. Systems or services that connect through or to Lonoke Public School District’s data system are to comply with all current policies as well as this policy before any connection can be authorized to Lonoke Public School District’s data or network systems.
